McKinsey & Co. Report: Clearing the Air on Cloud Computing

Will Forrest, Principal at McKinsey & Co., presented and released an economic analysis that shows cloud computing to be uneconomical for many enterprises at the Uptime Institute Symposium 2009. While it has great potential, many of the claims being made about cloud computing have led some to the point of "irrational exuberance" and unrealistic expectations. The purpose of McKinsey's "Clearing the air on cloud computing" report is to focus the nascent cloud industry and its consumers on setting realistic expectations by taking a "hype-free" approach starting with a new proposed industry standard answer to the basic question of what a "cloud" actually is.
